New Year's Resolutions

Hello and Happy New Year! I hope you rang it in with people you love and enjoy. I spent New Years eve with great friends in New York City. I ended 2018 and started 2019 in a place that is slowly but surely stealing my heart so needless to say my new year has been off to a great start and I’m thoroughly inspired.

Today Im here to talk about some of my resolutions! Now I know that you can make resolutions or decisions to make changes any day of the year, but theres a type of magic that comes with a new year, maybe its all the glitter from new years eve?

The List

To start out each year I have a list that I keep in my notes on my phone. I’ve done it for 2017, 2018, and now 2019! The list starts with Goals, Things to Resolve, and Things Im Excited For. The end of the note is a reflection of the past year which consists of three questions: What was the best thing that happened this past year?, What was the single most challenging thing that happened this year?, and What was the biggest thing you learned this past year?. Filling this out each year, and having it readily accessible on my phone helps keeps me focused and fills me with gratitude.

So Whats on my List?

For goals, this year I want to:

  • Create a budget and save up $$$$ to move after graduation

  • Speak to extended family at least once a month

  • Write daily

  • Make yoga apart of my daily routine at school

  • Read one book a month

Things to Resolve this Year:

  • Spend 3 hours or less on my phone a day

  • Transition in to using more natural and sustainable products

  • Cut out meat in my diet and incorporate more vegetables

Things I am Excited for:

  • Rekindling and creating new friendships

  • St. Patricks Day in Savannah

  • Mardi Gras in New Orleans

  • Recruitment in August

  • Fall in Blue Ridge

  • Spending more time in New York

So thats what I have! Something I’ve realized about resolutions is I can’t make a giant list, because my resolutions quickly turn in to a chore. I have to set attainable goals and habits to achieve and cultivate. I tried to keep mine short and sweet, but meaningful to the way I want to live out my year. I hope this maybe added to the way you plan out your new year!

Wishing you all a happy new year full of love and bountiful opportunities!
